I often see good, and holy in everyday things. The longer I live, the more I realize the importance of being a prophet of good business, and self-best-practices to those around me. For those that feel the same, we congregate on Twitter, along with those that want to tell us, “I’ve just eaten a burrito.” We offer congratulations to our fellow burrito-eaters along with so much more just under the surface. Am I getting metaphysical about Social Media? Always.
Between each serious post, lies a humorous saying, or brilliant quote. We are finding ourselves through each other’s words. Perhaps Twitter to me, beautiful and the avatar-masked, has become a fortress of belief, and I have become a willing participant in the amazing force. We are not saints, nor does anyone believe that the holiness of Twitter is equal to any book or passage inspired by God, but I believe- in moments of our wisdom, we are inspiring others.
When it comes down to all the reasons of why the Twitter ‘fad‘ broke-through more so than any other social communication microblogging platform before or to this day, lays in each 140 charactered tweet. (Facebook still stands the tallest as highest growth.) Each message, encompasses something greater, and the fingers that type behind the update are aching to give new meaning, difference and otherwise acknowledgement to the very fact that ten, simple conduits of skin and bone have so much to offer.
Twitter and The Bible have complex ideas in common- more than you’ve ever probably thought about. Parables and holiness for everyday living- the Bible shines as an example of the best-practices, (teaching and instructable wisdom,) to practicing Christians, much alike the Torah to Judaism and the Qur’an to followers of Islam. Each belief structure has a place to congregate and receive Divine Guidance to what may lay ahead, while explaining why pain laid behind. Twitter and Religions offer us a connection that is so much more greater than the tangible world around us- and in each typed word, we’re able to see belief and application in process. The commonality fades between what is actually ‘given’ to each religion by their diety, but shines when we look at the power of GOOD that is going on around us.
Twitter helped Erica Mayer raise over $7500.00 for Charity Water.
Twitter, quite simply to me is humanism as it’s core. We long to resonate with others, inspire and become a bright contrast to the dark, feebleness that directly opposes who we are. The longings of watching each other succeed, and comforting those who have fallen have been with us since the dawn of time. Twitter, is simply a bigger commune of those that want to be heard amidst the profuse noise of our everyday lives.
Twitter shows the human struggle:
- RT’s allow us to be acknowledged and thanked.
- DMs tell us we’re important enough to send a separate email.
- @’s call us out by name and offer us a moment of celebrity and importance.
Social Media offers a storyline. The similarity between Twitter and Scripture or Divine Teaching is that the parable, or story never changes because the human condition stays the same. I see great men and women around me daily striving to help non-profits, and each other with life’s greatest struggle: Acknowledgement, Importance and Separation. I think it’s merely the beginning of something great.

Amazing comparisons between the humanity of Twitter and the humanity of religions.
The common thread in each of them is each of us.
Nicely done!
