Someone came up to me in a grocery store once, and stared at my small daughter and my young face and said, “You should have waited.” I was 25 years old at the time and the disapproving stare was all to familiar as I looked down not knowing what to say. What I said in my head was, “Wait and see.” For every single mother that’s pulled out her WIC checks and wondered why she chose the right, (but far, too difficult path,) this is for you. For every young writer dreaming of making their words pure armor for the emotions and passion they hold inside, this is yours. The more people I meet and from the experiences that have shaped me, I’ve learned one, valuable lesson: I never went alone. In fact: those moments which had me at my knees: I was part of something greater and more meaningful.
A year ago? I would have never imagined that by simply clicking away at my keyboard and spilling out my dreams, frustrations and desires it all would happen so quickly. I could truly never tell you how important you are to me- the fact that you take time out of your day to read, comment and aspire to a new world order with me: Passion.
To that lady in the grocery store, and all the wind-out-of-my-sails falls and spills along the way? Thank you. I’m honored to be able to tell you: Cancer, Breakups and Single Parenting have only made me better.

Passion is big. But your courage is ginormous…it’s admirable…it’s inspiring…and it’s opened the door for you to share the passion. Keep-on-keeping-on and keep flashing that smile of determination to all of the nay-saying stares. Passion inspires passion. Thank you for being courageous.

You are a better person then I am. I would had slapped her in the face. How dare she. You should have waited? For what? Kudos to you for jumping in, not waiting and being a better woman then I am. I admire you tremendously, and I for one am glad you didn’t wait.
[...] You should have waited…Why? April 9, 2010 I admit, I saw red when I read Kate’s post. Really? “You should have waited? Waited for the white knight to show up? Waited [...]
