Layla Grace is the name of a little girl who died this morning after losing battle with Stage 4 Neuroblastoma. I want everyone to hear her name, and see this sweet, sweet, face.

How long have I known Layla’s story? About ten minutes. This certainly doesn’t give me any permission to express anything but deep and utter regret that I’ll never get to meet this amazing little girl. It does, however: give me the hope that somehow, one blog will turn into many blogs and this little one’s name will not be forgotten, but instead remembered for her striking blue eyes and the joy she gave to her family and friends.
I live in a world that I do not understand. I’ll never comprehend why little girls die of big-name illnesses, or with all the medical advances we cannot keep the most beautiful and sacred of us, safe from harm. In the world I don’t understand, those who are in rehab get more publicity than tiny, miracles who are fighting for their lives, daily. Layla Grace and all the other incredible wonders of this world: children fighting illnesses, and the angelic parents who watch their precious, precious little beings slip away- deserve more than drunken actresses and gawdy, Hollywood arrests.
My words won’t do the justice I so want them to but perhaps they can do the magic of spreading the story of one, incredible, amazing, and humbling little girl, her family and their story.

Maybe someday, we’ll have our priorities corrected. Children warriors deserve more of our attention and love.
Your family is in my thoughts- I am truly humbled to have read your story.
Reading her story over the past few months has been such gift. Her parents openness to share it is something that many would not do. Layla Grace will be so missed.
