For not only those lost in NYC, but around the world:
This day is one we remember for heroics, martyrdom & an ideal that will not fade.
It’s not about one country’s advancement over another. It’s about humanism and recognizing the darkest parts of ourselves that creep out when ignorance flourishes.
For every Iraqi schoolchild maimed in war and for Afghan girls who understand their education could cost them disfigurement with acid: I salute you.
The pain of intolorance is clearer today: We have names of victims crushed by steel and ash- constant reminders of an unfathomable price tag of hate.
For my daughter: That her children may not grow up in a world where suicide bombers are praised and buildings fall for the lowered expectations that occur when people close their eyes and their hearts to the human condition around them.
No. More.
