I went to the ER recently for a 104 temperature and the inability to stop shaking. The bubonic plague has it in for me.

When I received five, separate, bills from Allina hospitals I had to breathe using the labor pain method and I read that my IV Fluid was near $250.00 a bag. ($120 seperately to administer.) You can imagine why I didn’t understand the $3,740 that I paid for almost 3 hours of care. I believe in solid, medical care and I equally profess: It takes money to run our economy, keep patients well and administer sound decisions in the emergency medical industry. ….but I did wonder under misc charges if my $4.70 was for the cup of ice they gave me and if so? I’m way overpaying and entirely uninsured. So my hopes for Obama changing my outlook on the bloody mess that is healthcare right now are a little inflated. I believe in him- always have. The ‘audacity of hope,’ he might say.

I sat for about 3 hours recently helping a woman at work, who had no idea, (even with an amazing background,) how to craft a well-written resume or really ‘gameplan’ her job search. She couldn’t stop spouting political warfare over Obama and his ‘peoples,’ and I finally couldn’t take it anymore. She asked what I thought and while I usually sit and smile when it comes to clients and politics, I said carefully and diplomatically: “I feel blessed. This position and all our resources here are because of Obama’s WIA campaign and funding. You’re able to research, use our services and find housing because of what he’s trying to fix in America.” She looked at me and then looked down at her keyboard. Last week I printed out resources to get her out of the mess that her short-sidedness had led her to, and give her hope- that audacity, again. When she pulled out from the parking lot, I saw a piece of copy paper taped to her back window. “Obama=Asshat!” was declared wherever she drove. Funny thing is: I’m pretty sure Obama allocated the funding for the gas giftcard she left with and that single, sheet of paper. Isn’t that the best thing about America? I can believe what I believe, and you believe what you believe. But our society and creating a better environment should the foundation. Do you agree?

An article ran this morning. (Read Here.) Basically it’s your typical American formula. President with strong moral compass who is trying to swim upstream in shark-infested waters encourages something out of the ordinary. Republicans and soccer suburban moms get on high ‘red’ alert and start spouting that his ‘socialist agenda’ is ‘appalling.’ What did Obama do? He asked to speak to school children about staying in school and preparing themselves for the future. Know what was said?

Florida GOP Chairman Jim Greer released a statement this week accusing Obama of using taxpayer money to “indoctrinate” children.”As the father of four children, I am absolutely appalled that taxpayer dollars are being used to spread President Obama’s socialist ideology,” Greer said.

Tim Pawlenty, my wonderfully-misguided and egotistically-driven governor had this to say:

At a minimum it’s disruptive, number two, it’s uninvited and number three, if people would like to hear his message they can, on a voluntary basis, go to YouTube or some other source and get it. I don’t think he needs to force it upon the nation’s school children.
In a radio interview, The Minneapolis Star Tribune reported, “Pawlenty said he understood the address would encourage school children to write to the president.

“There are going to be questions about — well, what are they are going to do with those names and is that for the purpose of a mailing list?” the governor said.” (Source)

So we’re going all Joseph McCarthy on our dear, beloved, president because we can’t see beyond our own political motivations so we’ll just blame his.

PS: Did you know that our George Bush did the same thing?http://georgewbush-whitehouse.archives.gov/kids/guide/
