Here was my letter to Sally:
Sally,
You speak a great deal in your recent speech that has made it to various media outlets about the effect of the gay culture on small children. I am the proud mother of a two year old little girl who is beautiful and intelligent. I think what you’re failing to realize that the more we put hate speech into a young children’s lives, and the more we tell them NOT to love and accept those around us – that’s what will stump their growth. You claim to be Baptist, which means you are following in Jesus’ footsteps. But really- you’re following in your own footsteps and the footsteps of other bigoted men and women before you. Jesus would never have said that love and acceptance towards the gay and lesbian culture “would kill our civilization.” What disgusting words you’ve placed in people’s ears. The only spread we should be worried about for the loss of our already diminished civilization? Is the spread of HATRED towards other people and other ideas. Just in case you still feel like you need to head up this battle against the gay population? I can assure you that you will lose. I read to my daughter already, and explain love of all types of people. She will not know discrimination or hatred because someone chooses to love someone of the same sex. Her children will grow up with knowledge and power against you and people with your agenda. Hatred never wins. How dare you stand in front of our FLAG, and speak words that directly go against the founding of this country- allowing people freedoms that they so desperately wanted.
You didn’t think anyone else was listening. My family in Minnesota was listening, and we will not stand for what you have to say.
